A Brief History of M Shed

Built as one of Bristol’s port transit sheds in the 1950s, the building was used for cargo storage on the busy docks.

📜

Modern Museum

Now a free museum with around 3,000 artefacts, films and personal stories exploring Bristol’s past and present.

Did You Know? The name “M Shed” comes from the port’s lettering system used to identify each dockside shed.
