A Brief History of We The Curious

From @Bristol to Bristol's favourite science centre

Opened in 2000

Originally opened as @Bristol in 2000 on the Harbourside as part of a major regeneration project, succeeding the earlier Exploratory science museum.

Rebranded 2017

Renamed We The Curious in 2017 to better reflect its mission of sparking curiosity in science and the arts for everyone in Bristol and beyond.

Reopened 2 July 2024

After the April 2022 fire and a major reinstatement project, We The Curious reopened on 2 July 2024 with refreshed spaces and the UK’s only 3D planetarium.

Did You Know? We The Curious declared a climate emergency in 2019 and pledged to be carbon net zero by 2030.

  • Adult Ticket (16+): Gift Aid £22.50 / Non-Gift Aid £20.40
  • Child Ticket (2–15): Gift Aid £15.30 / Non-Gift Aid £13.90
  • Age 0–1: FREE (but you still need to book a ticket)
  • Planetarium add-on: £4.00 Open concession planetarium is typically cheaper. Under-6s can only attend 2D planetarium shows.
