A Reclaimed Quarry
The Eden Project was created in a reclaimed china clay pit, transforming an industrial landscape into a world-class visitor attraction focused on plants and people.
The Biomes Take Shape
Designed by Grimshaw Architects, the iconic geodesic domes are built from a steel framework with ETFE "pillows" that let in lots of light while keeping the structures lightweight.
Opened in 2001
The full site opened to the public in 2001 and has since become one of the UK's best known eco attractions, hosting exhibitions, gardens, and major events.
