Broadway Tower Guide & Reviews (2026)
Standing proudly as the highest little castle in the Cotswolds, visiting Broadway Tower is an absolute must for walkers and history enthusiasts. The spiral staircase gets noticeably tighter near the top, but bursting out onto the roof with the wind in your hair and spotting up to 16 counties makes the thigh burn completely worth it. Understanding the Broadway Tower ticket prices, knowing where to park, and reading up on the incredible Cold War history below the ground will help you plan a memorable day out.

Folly, retreat, and bunker
A Grand Design
Conceived by the famous landscape designer Capability Brown and completed by architect James Wyatt in 1799 for Lady Coventry to see if a beacon could be viewed from her estate.
The Morris Retreat
In the late 19th century, members of the Arts and Crafts movement, including the legendary William Morris, used the tower as a countryside holiday retreat.
Cold War Secret
Hidden just steps from the tower is a fully preserved Royal Observer Corps nuclear bunker, built to track fallout during the tense days of the Cold War.

Peak Crowd Heatmap
When to expect the biggest queues
🟢 Early Mornings
Peaceful Strolling. Arriving before 10:30 am often means you get the atmospheric morning mist rolling over the hills all to yourself.
🔴 Midday Rush
High Energy. Between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm, the café fills up quickly and the narrow stairs inside the tower can feel congested.
🟡 Late Afternoons
A Gentle Buzz. The crowds begin to thin out. If you stay late, the sunset photography opportunities here are genuinely breathtaking.
Trav’s Insider Hack: The Walker's Reward
“Squawk! Skip the top car park entirely. Park down in Broadway village and hike up the Cotswold Way. It is a steep, muddy 40-minute climb (watch out for the sheep droppings), but it makes a massive slice of cake at the Morris & Brown café taste ten times better at the top!”
