Windsor Guildhall Guide & Reviews (2026)

Standing on the High Street just steps from Windsor Castle, the Windsor Guildhall is one of those places that quietly steals the show. Having walked past it on countless visits, I still get that little thrill seeing its elegant 17th-century facade and knowing King Charles III and Queen Camilla chose it for their civil wedding in 2005. Understanding the Windsor Guildhall guided tour prices, finding convenient Windsor parking, and learning about its royal history will make your visit completely stress-free.

A Brief History of Windsor Guildhall

Construction began in 1687 under Sir Thomas Fitch and was completed in 1690. The building served as Windsor's town hall and corn market.

🕍

Christopher Wren Legend

The famous local legend says Sir Christopher Wren added the supporting columns but deliberately left a small gap at the top to prove they were not needed - stand underneath and you will spot it yourself.

💒

Royal Weddings

Home to the civil wedding of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in 2005, and also the wedding of Sir Elton John and David Furnish.

Did You Know? Every British monarch since Elizabeth I has gifted a portrait to the Guildhall - they line the walls of the Council Chamber and create an unforgettable atmosphere.
